Product To Return : MCL2009 DRK160 ESC
Problem With Product : So this esc is in my back up car. I hardly use at all. If it has 15 passes on it it’s a lot. You can tell how clean it is. Well I went to go use it and I plugged my battery in and it made a pop sound and started smoking. I unplugged it waited about 5 minutes plugged it back in. It was fine for about a minute and then started pouring smoke out of it. I unplugged it and left it alone. I use xt90 so there’s no way it’s plugged in wrong. I only use maclan batteries 7200 with xt90 already installed. I own 4 drk esc and zero problems besides this one I also own 3 of the 7200 batteries. I have zero clue what happen. It’s the strangest thing. This happen a week ago I just haven’t had time to fill th form out and do the work. Thanks

User Note

7/22/2021  Check in

7/22/2021 Inspection – ESC is out of warranty by date. Date code on ESC also doesn’t match receipt. MOSFET board is damaged. See picture. Possible causes are:

  • Improper power input (reverse polarity)
  • Excessive amp draw (extreme burnout, improper gearing, too many runs in a row)
  • Motor out of sync (bridged terminals, sensor gap)

The cost to repair the ESC will be $120 plus $8 shipping. Please reply to this email and we will send an invoice to move forward with repairs. Please reply with the car you are running, motor, can timing and gearing so we can offer suggestions to help prevent this from happening again.
