Customer reply record:

Chassis is a tekno eb410.2

Motor is a Orion Ultimate mod 6.5 turn

Gearing is a 20t pinion with an 81t spur
Was running pretty much stock setting on the esc had changed the punch setting to 3, brakes were at 50% rest was factory
As far as motor timing goes I never charged anything on the esc and the motor end bell is set to 30 out of 40 exactly how it came out of the box.
When the issue happened I had been on my second battery pack of the day been running pretty normal, went over a double and after tried to make the turn and had nothing no power no steering. By the time I made my way to the car I could hear the power was on but the motor wouldn’t move. So I picked it up and on my way back to my pit area I heard an electrical arc noise and almost immediately smelt burning. Set the car on the ground and by the time the body was off it had gotten so hot it had melted off my battery cable right off the esc. I have tested all my other electronics and everything else is still in perfect working order.

12/8/2020 Service
  • ESC has permanent damage on MOSFET and control board, not able to retrieve data logs
  • Perform one time courtesy service to rebuild the ESC with brand new control board, MOSFET board, and capacitor module
  • Tested and verified ESC, see RMA#1606 testing video.

Final note: if an ESC was able to race, the ESC was free from material defect. The damage of this ESC was caused by shorted power. We noticed the power switch might had some outside force that pulled the wires out from its plastic case and protective epoxy glue. Please see the below photo. We would suggest to replace the switch to avoid issues.
