Product To Return : MCL2007 MMax8 1/8 Competition Sensored 200A ESC
Problem With Product : I have a MMax8 esc that is roughly 2 weeks old and it is showing some signs of internal glitching. When I received the unit, the bottom screws that hold the case together were loose. Upon using the ESC for the first time, I did have some heat issues. I’m a former team driver for Hobbywing (7 years) and I also currently drive for Tekno. I acquired Jared Tebo’s setup sheet and applied his settings. Within 6 minutes, the ESC fan failed and the unit began showing signs of “selective connection” and lag. I attempted to hookup the program box and it will not link. Later, I hooked it up to the computer via USB and links just fine. I took the screws out that hold the case together and installed some double sided tape inside underneath the board for extra cushion. I’d still like to send it in and make sure everything is still okay before I attend a big event. Please let me know if this is possible.

User Note

Check in: 2/26/2020

Inspection: 2/27/2020

  • The MMax 8 was modified with all wires removed and replaced with poor soldering.

  • The ESC has a layer of double side servo tape in between the thermal pads and aluminum case that blocks thermal dissipation.

  • The firmware was found to be corrupted that required a firmware re-flash.
  • We tested the ESC after reinstalled the firmware. The ESC has hardware damage that the sensor circuit no longer works. The damage can be possibly caused by overheating the ESC posts while removing the wires, or insufficient thermal dissipation by the additional double side tape.
  • This ESC is unfortunately not covered by the factory limited warranty due to the fact of modifications.
  • To rebuild the ESC costs $120 plus return shipping $8. We’d like to offer you a 30% discount on the repairing. The cost will be $84 + $8 shipping for a total of $92.
  • We will rebuild the ESC with all new internals along with new wires. We will perform testing video to ensure it’s working properly. Please reply if you decide to go for the service.
  • Our technical support manager, Colin Branch, will call you in business hours to explain and make sure you understand the issues.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Any modifications on the ESC would void the factory warranty. We strongly recommend all customers not to replace the wires as it was professionally soldered in the factory. It requires very high temperature iron to remove it. We offer re-wire service for all customers with very reasonable cost. Please consider to utilize our service to avoid damaging your ESC.
