Problem With Product : Gears strip easily. The first incident I had with these servos was last year while setting up a 60 inch Edge Demonstrator airplane. The rudder servo stripped while ground testing the surface for traveling in the correct direction. The second issue I had was when the elevator servo locked in the up position then released on the same aircraft resulting in the plane being totalled as I was attempting a harrier landing. I replaced the gear sets in those servos and moved them to a new model (Synergy 516). Since then I’ve had multiple in flight failures. I’ve also had servos apparently become damaged in transport to the field on both the plane and the helicopter. In every one of the repairs of the servos I have noticed that the gear that comes directly off of the output shaft gear set is consistently missing one or more splines. I’ve also noticed that the gear that comes off of the motor is a bit soft as I have had that gear round off to the point of not being able to make contact with the next gear on the one servo I replaced last winter.

Thw most recent incident I had taken pictures and a short video and sent it to my Team Manager JC Zankl. In that incident the collective servo was locked in the negative collective position forcing the helicopter to the ground.

I’m not asking to get anything for free or anything I’m just looking for a solution for the problem I’m having, as I feel that this situation is starting to become dangerous for myself and the people I fly with.

User Note

Communication 3/10/2020

  • The initial check of the servos found use marks on servo cases.
  • All servos show oil spread and damaged upper cases. See below photos:

  • We managed to sent these 3 servos back to the factory. It was fond that all 3 servos had gears replaced with incorrect installation that forced the gears into damage and moreover that caused alignment pin bend, damaged upper case, twisted main shaft plastic bushing and stripped gears.  Also, we found a pin that was leftover in one of the servo from previous gear change installation.
  • Please see below photos.

  • These 3 servos are not covered by the warranty. We’d offer to rebuild these servos with new upper cases, gear sets, and alignment pins. The cost is $30/ pcs plus $8 return shipping. The total will be $98.Please reply if you wish to proceed the service.
